Mantra? In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
Best grooming tip? I’ve learned so many great tricks of the trade in my industry. Always use SPF, apply dry shampoo before bed instead of in the morning, don’t be afraid to wear bold lipstick and drink plenty of water.
Guilty pleasure? Wine, ice cream, and reality TV… ideally all at the same time.
Favorite foods? Lou Malnati’s pizza and Hub51 Breakfast Nachos.
Music you love? I grew up in a very musical family and studied voice so I love everything from ’90s R&B and ’80s power ballads to Broadway hits. Many weekend mornings are spent listening to “Breakfast with the Beatles” which is something I did with my dad.
Best advice ever given to you? Follow your heart.
Best advice you’ve given? The grass is greener where you water it.
Earliest memory? My mom and I going to watch The Little Mermaid and singing along loudly because we were the only ones in the theater.
When you wake up, you? After snoozing my alarm a few times, I finally jump out of bed and it’s a mad dash to get everyone where they need to be. It’s like the scene from Home Alone each morning.
Before bed, you? After we tuck in our kids, I usually scroll through my phone (for a little too long) looking at home design ideas. I love the creative outlet it provides me and I’m in the process of launching Courtney Casey Interiors this summer as a side passion project.
What’s on your bookshelf? As a magazine girl, I’m always so excited to get my first-bound copies of ELLE and Marie Claire hot-off-the-press each month. I also love listening to audiobooks on my commute and just started listening to Girl, Wash Your Face along with a handful of parenting books to help navigate the fun yet challenging toddler years.
You can’t live without? My family, friends, and faith. Though coffee, wine, fresh flowers, and mascara are also pretty high up on my list.
Love to escape to? My husband and I studied abroad together in Florence, Italy in college so that is our happy place. We also love impromptu staycations in the city whenever we can.
Advice you would give to your younger self? Everything really does happen for a reason. It doesn’t always seem that way at the time, but trust that there is a bigger plan.
WHEN IN THE COUNTRY
Your style is? Either super casual in jeans/workout clothes or glammed up for an event.
Can’t leave the house without? My Louis Vuitton Neverfull. Ironically, it is always totally full of magazines, snacks for my kids, 50 different lip glosses, and my iPhone.
Transportation? Land Rover.
Driving music? Right now, I am obsessed with the Hamilton soundtrack.
Place to eat? Fuller House Day + Night Burger and truffle fries are my favorite guilty pleasure. We also love Altamura pizzas to bring us back to Italy.
Shop? The new Marcus store is filled with fabulous finds and I love that they have a floor with children’s clothes and books. I also love shopping for my kids at My Sister Kate but for myself, I’m mostly an online shopper.
Best thing about country? Hinsdale has the most amazing sense of community. Not only is it a beautiful place to live and raise a family but people really do look out for each other. We are very fortunate.
Worst thing about country? I would love to see a few new restaurants in town to add a little more variety.
The perfect day is? Our family really loves going to Uniquely Thursdays together in the summer! It’s so much fun to see everyone out and about. We also love hosting friends for wine nights at our house whenever we can.
WHEN IN TOWN
Your style is? Working in fashion, I get to have some fun with my everyday office style. Some days I’ll wear sky-high heels and a bright, bold lip and other days it’s casual, head-to-toe black. It all depends on what clients I’m seeing and what my mood is that day.
Can’t leave the house without? My iPhone and laptop.
Transportation? Metra and Uber.
Driving music? I’m usually listening to an audiobook or taking a conference call during my commute.
Place to eat? To me, nothing tops the 3 Arts Club at Restoration Hardware. I’m a very visual person so the ambiance has to be just as good as the food. The patio at Piccolo Sogno is also a magical place and BOKA Group can do no wrong.
Shop? Oak Street and Michigan Avenue but also love popping into boutique home stores like Jayson Home.
Best thing about town? The energy! There is so much culture, cuisine and nightlife to take in! We are so lucky to have all of this so close and I can’t wait to experience more of the city as a family as our kids get bigger.
Worst thing about town? Traffic and parking. Hands down.
The perfect day is? My husband planned the most incredible birthday surprise for me this year which was my perfect day! We had an amazing dinner followed by tickets to Hamilton and an overnight stay/spa at The Waldorf. Being greeted by our babies in the morning after sleeping in was icing on the (birthday) cake! Not sure how he’ll top that next year!
