If you’ve noticed the thriving retail scene in Hinsdale lately (more properties occupied today than in the last decade) you can thank Anna Martch, the village’s hard-working Economic Development and Communications Specialist. “I have worked for the Village of Hinsdale for two and a half years and during this past year I was promoted,” she says. I also serve as a liaison to the Economic Development Commission and the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, both which work to make Hinsdale a vibrant and prosperous community for its residents and visitors.” Martch and her husband recently bought their first home in the Western Suburbs and are looking forward to making holiday memories. “I encourage everyone to spend time enjoying all that Hinsdale has to offer. Enjoy a stroll downtown under 100,000 holiday lights strung in the trees, take a ride on the holiday carousel during the Christmas Walk, or enjoy holiday shopping in one of our many unique boutiques.” Here are her favorite “lasts”:
Last Hinsdale find that you still brag about?
You can always find me popping in and out of the boutiques in Hinsdale but my absolute favorite find was a floral dress from Alixandra Blue that I actually wore to my wedding shower.
Last holiday movie you saw more than once?
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is hands down my favorite holiday movie. I must watch it at least once a holiday season.
Last impulse decision you made that you will never regret?
Some may consider my decision to accept the position with the village an impulse decision. My commute increased from five minutes to an hour, and the initial job functions weren’t exactly in my field. However, Hinsdale’s wonderful reputation and the unique possibilities made it an easy decision for me.
Last memorable gift you’ve either given or received?
For my wedding, my grandma gifted us with her beautiful china dishes. Since I was a kid I remember asking her if I could have them one day. To this day I think of all the holidays and family traditions these dishes have seen and all the memories that are yet to come.
Last moment that made you appreciate the wonder of our village during the holiday season?
The first time I experienced the holiday season in Hinsdale I instantly was in awe. Hinsdale’s classic Rockwell-like charm is evident with horse-drawn carriage rides, professional ice sculptors, whimsical tree lights, old time carolers and a perfect combination of retail businesses.
