Christine McCarty. PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROBIN SUBAR
Christine McCarty of Hinsdale hardly ever slows down. Between her job as Chief Marketing Officer of Ziegler—a boutique investment bank specializing in health care and “do-good” causes—and being a mother to 6-year-old Alexandra and 3-year-old Addisyn (with another girl on the way), Christine and her husband Justin try to savor every moment in life. this busy professional (and finalist in the 2017 Stevie Awards for Women in Business in the Female Executive of the Year category) also manages to find time to co-chair the 2018 Saint Isaac Jogues School Auction and run her list-based “No Words Needed” blog (nowordsneeded.me). Here are some of Christine’s favorites from around country and town.
Mantra? When it comes to life, give it your all. At the end of the day, it’s all you’ve got.
Best grooming tip? Don’t wash your hair every day.
Guilty Pleasure? Eating pizza or candy. I don’t eat sugar and try to stick to a Whole30 lifestyle, but I do have my guilty pleasures. Plus, being seven months pregnant with my third girl, I need to give in sometimes.
Favorite Foods? All veggies and eggs!
Music you love? ‘70s music; and great workout and dancing music
Best advice ever given to you? Love yourself so you can love others. My mom taught me this at a very young age.
Best advice you’ve given? I tell my girls this all the time. You are each unique. You be you, and the rest will fall into place.
Earliest memory? I grew up as a dancer. I can remember my first recital on stage and I was a green Martian.
When you wake up you? Work out at 4 a.m. Yes, even pregnant!
Before bed, you? Review my schedule for the next day. It’s all about lists/schedules in my household. I get up at 4 a.m. (5 a.m. on Fridays and Sundays as a girl needs to sleep in some days) because “me time” to work out is important. The happiest, most successful people are early risers.
What’s on your bookshelf? The Rare Find, The Art of People, It Starts with Food, and Babywise
You can’t live without? Working out! Even though I don’t like it, I can’t live without it.
Love to escape to? The yoga studio.
Advice you would like to give your younger self? Don’t rush life. Growing up, I always wanted to be older. Now time is flying by and it’s time to slow down and enjoy every moment.
WHEN IN THE COUNTRY
Your style? Yoga pants and top. I am dressed up for work during the week, so it’s nice to be causal and comfy when I’m home.
Can’t leave the house without? Water. I drink about three bottles of the large Smartwater bottles a day.
Transportation? Car, walk, or train. However, if I could walk everywhere I would.
Driving Music? In the car, my kids dictate the music. Right now, its Taylor Swift.
Places to Eat? Fullers. Love the grilled chicken and awesome kids menu.
Shop? CorePower Yoga Hinsdale Boutique. They have the best yoga clothes and it’s so close to my house.
Best thing about country? Hinsdale is a wonderful community that we get to raise our family in. Between the schools and people, I feel very fortunate.
Worst thing about country? Driving to the city. No matter what time you leave, I feel like we are always stuck in traffic.
The perfect day is? Getting a good workout in before anyone wakes up and then spending the rest of the day with my family.
WHEN IN TOWN
Your style is? Business. I am a CMO at an investment bank so I’m either in business casual or a suit if I have meetings.
Can’t leave the house without? My phone, as it’s my connection to my kids when I am at work.
Transportation? Train or walk
Driving Music? A mix of ‘70s music, pop, and hip-hop. On the train, I love listening to music and reading.
Places to eat? Bring in my lunch from home. I eat healthy and like to know what’s going in my body.
Shop? Nordstrom, but I do most of my shopping online!
Best thing about town? The energy and my job. We are the do-good investment bank. It’s wonderful to see our financings come to life.
Worst thing about town? Train delays trying to get home to my family.
The perfect day is? I work on a lot of projects. Whether it be launching a new website or product with an updated look and feel, completing these from start to finish is an amazing feeling.
