Each year as many as 45 million Americans travel the world. As many as 25 percent of them will acquire some type of illness during their trip, including the common cold, diarrhea and some very serious, potentially fatal conditions.
Using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, Edward-Elmhurst Health’s Travel Medicine Clinics provide advice and protection against disease for international travelers.
A consultation at the Clinic includes a review of all planned destinations, time of year for the trip, purpose of the visit, duration of stay, allergy history, vaccination history and past medical history.

It’s recommended to contact the Clinic at least six weeks before departure to allow time for necessary immunizations and assessment of any adverse reactions. Some vaccinations may require more than one dose. Payment is due at time of service. Appointments are required.
