Christine Jackson is a busy mom of two who teaches second grade. Seeing the progress her students make from August to May is the reason she became a teacher. In honor of back-to-school season, we asked her to share the five things she can’t live without.
“I’ve been married for almost 25 years and we have two amazing boys who are graduates of Nazareth Academy. I’m also fortunate to have my parents, siblings, and extended family around for encouragement and support. And, I can’t leave out our dog, one-year-old Akita—he’s my 90-pound baby!”
“I am a Charter member of the Phi Sigma Rho Engineering Sorority. There’s nothing like sisterhood. I was just elected President of the Sorority’s Foundation.”
“It’s fulfilling to see students’ progress, especially at a school where resources are very limited. This year I received the Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction Award.”
“I’d like to think that my formal education and my life experiences have made me a well-rounded and successful person.”
5. Chocolate, Starbucks, and Travel
“I have learned to relax and reward myself. I do both quite well! My favorite candy is the Fannie May Pixie. I don’t drink coffee, but I have Starbucks hot chocolate every day. Traveling to California and sitting for hours on the Santa Monica Pier is my favorite getaway.”
