Sami Bittar’s, M.D., F.A.C.S. patients admire many things about his techniques as a plastic surgeon. But perhaps the most comforting is the fact that Dr. Bittar believes in giving them a choice. “Nobody needs plastic surgery,” says Dr. Bittar. “But if a patients desires to change something, we are here. We may be able to achieve the same result with a procedure less invasive than surgery. Everybody deserves to know what their options are.”
As one of the most reputable plastic surgeons in the Chicago area, Dr. Bittar has been practicing cosmetic surgery for more than 24 years. Throughout his tenure, many technological advancements have taken place. Dr. Bittar has seen the rise and fall of numerous high-tech machines that claim to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. None have lasted—until now. “I’m a surgeon and like to perform surgeries,” Dr. Bittar says. “I don’t recommend anything non-invasive unless I feel it really, really works.”
Dr. Bittar’s office has recently purchased the newest and most effective non-invasive approach to cosmetic enhancements. InMode, an all-in-one platform, provides multiple technologies in one machine. Procedures are performed by Dr. Bittar’s Physician Assistant Jocelin Sisto, MA, MMS, PA-C, who can’t say enough about what she calls a “miracle machine.”
Jocelin has traveled the country training aestheticians and doctors alike in how this machine works. Depending on a patient’s specific needs, Jocelin is able to customize each treatment and procure the best results.
Forma, the first application, uses radiofrequency to tighten the skin. “It feels like a warm massage,” says Jocelin. “It’s remodeling your collagen so it actually tightens your skin.” The Plus is an offshoot of Forma in that it has a bigger hand-piece but uses the same technology. “We use this for larger areas of the body that need tightening, like the knees or abdomen.”
Body FX is another radiofrequency-based technology that combines with a high amplitude pulse that literally causes fat cells to die. Studies show evidence of cell death, which is good news for those patients wishing to contour areas and reduce the appearance of cellulite in tough-to-reach spots. “Most patients had a two-centimeter reduction. That’s great for body contouring,” she adds.
Fractora is another use of InMode and, as Jocelin says, “the reason I bought the machine. It uses radiofrequency to completely resurface the skin taking by care of those deep wrinkles and textural concerns that we couldn’t take care of without long recovery times and side effects. Fractora is going to change what we do in the non-invasive world.”
Finally, Diolaze is the latest in hair removal systems. According to Jocelin,“it’s ridiculously fast and significantly less painful than other devices.”
