Along with a new look, thanks to an ongoing renovation, Neiman Marcus Oakbrook Center has a new general manager just in time for the fall and holiday shopping seasons. Linda Piepho joined the 31-year-old store in September, bringing along amazing experience and an enthusiasm for getting to know the local customers. “It’s great to be here and be a part of a wonderful team. It’s also great to be a part of such a wonderful community,” says Linda, who laughs when sharing that longtime customers of the store have welcomed her while she is welcoming them into the store.
Linda expresses admiration for the sales associates and gushes over the amount of knowledge they receive and enjoy passing along to shoppers. Your salesperson can tell if a sweater that’s caught your eye is Scottish cashmere. She may even know which mill.
Neiman Marcus has really embraced technology-enabled shopping. Linda says that employees carry iPhones to enable easy communication with their customers. During presentations from visiting designer reps, associates are snapping photos of fabulous finds to email customers. That’s how one shoe shopper scored a limited-edition pair of Christian Louboutins the same day they arrived in store.
This fall, those connected shoppers will be receiving pictures and flipping through look books of clothes with leather elements, ladylike single-sole shoes, and red, which NM has dubbed “the new neutral.”
In store, shoppers will find a new precious jewels salon on the main floor and new gift galleries upstairs. They’ll also find Linda walking the floor. “I’m looking forward to connecting with customers on a personal level,” she explains. She’s also working to become a part of the business and philanthropic community surrounding the store. A visit to the Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce is on her calendar, as is representing the store at area fundraising events.
With lots of in-store events happening, Linda will soon be a familiar face to many of us. A good time to say hello is the weekend of October 17 to 20 for InCircle time, which will feature Brunello Cucinelli and LAGOS Trunk Shows, happenings in cosmetics, and more. It should be a wonderful opportunity to spend some time in the store, browsing for holiday party ensembles and perhaps putting together a wish list or two.
