Two is better than one: That’s the motto of power couple and real estate moguls Chuck and Diana Ivas. With Diana’s 20-plus years of experience and Chuck’s background as a decorating contractor, the duo pools their expertise and resources when it comes to buying or selling property. With average annual sales totaling more than $40 million, they are clearly leaders in their industry.
Diana was a teacher at Oak Park River Forest High School before taking on the real estate business full-time. She joined RE/MAX in 1990 with Chuck following suit in 1993, and the two garnered several prestigious RE/MAX awards. Diana’s achievements include the Circle of Legends Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Hall of Fame, and Platinum Club and Chairman’s Club; Chuck earned the Hall of Fame and Chairman’s Club Awards. The team was also regularly listed among the “Top 20” teams of RE/MAX Northern Illinois.
“Big or small, we sell them all,” says Diana, referencing their logo. “We like to work with first-time buyers in a smaller range as well as million-dollar homes.”
Last year, the couple joined Prudential Rubloff Properties, where they continue their formula: Diana takes on marketing and buyer’s agent management, and Chuck handles financial and administrative tasks. Chuck’s background as a contract decorator is exceptionally helpful for buyers when it comes to home inspection time. He helps negotiate many items based on his experience with construction and the costs of repairs.
“We help people stage and get their house ready, making sure all the repairs are done so there are no issues for when they do get a contract,” says Chuck.
“We have good resources that people need, especially if they’re coming here from a different state or from the city,” adds Diana, who is a member of a local business networking group. “We tell clients to call us if they need a plumber, an electrician, an insurance agent, or a home remodeler.”
What clients like best about the team is their exceptional follow-through and extensive knowledge of the market. Diana and Chuck have lived in Hinsdale for more than 30 years, and together they have seen over 1,600 homes. At the beginning of the buying process, they meet with the clients to figure out what exactly they are looking for in a home, or what is on their “wish list.” They then consult several properties, narrow down the list, and showcase the homes. Shows like House Hunters may glamorize the process, but they essentially capture Diana’s favorite part of the process.

The Ivas team has an optimistic outlook on this year, which has already started out with strong sales. They explain that it is a good time for sellers because there are fewer houses to compete with, and for buyers, the interest rates are at record lows.
“We’re seeing a nice upswing in the market,” says Diana. “I think it’s going to be a really good year for buyers and sellers, and probably a little bit more toward the sellers finally.”
