Sometimes you find a very special place. Usually it happens when vacationing somewhere fabulous like Aix-en-Provence or Marrakesh or on a getaway to a vaguely mystical spot like Sedona. We’re lucky because one such place exists in the heart of downtown Hinsdale. Fixe Self Center is a true escape, easily accessed anytime a person is feeling the need for a little lift.
Owner Jeanne Picerne has curated a destination for the personal services everyone craves in the sort of environment we all dream of when conjuring up an idea of perfect relaxation. Anything one might need for a healthy spirit is available at Fixe, from retail therapy to medical aesthetics and beyond. “It’s a friendly atmosphere designed to safeguard the health of the body and soul,” Jeanne says.
In the soothing sanctuary that is Fixe, the staff has developed a sort of sixth sense for knowing what each person who enters is seeking that day.
Women descending the stairs from Demi-Bar Pilates stop on the second floor to browse the expertly selected apparel and accessories, much of which is local, sustainable, or both. They might want to chat about the story behind Crash Candles, which feature charming graphic designs and can be used as drinking glasses once the soy wax is finished. Or perhaps one friend is evangelizing Tees by Tina or Second Denim Co.’s Yoga Jeans. A staffer is likely wearing one or the other and might even demonstrate the outstanding features of these two indispensible wardrobe basics.
On the other end of the spectrum from the social shopper, licensed clinical social worker Judy Rudny lends an empathetic ear to individuals and families working through difficulties. Her light-filled office is situated so that anyone coming to see her can glide in and out easily.
Because Fixe is designed not only for body and balance, but also for beauty, the center is home to some of the best in the business when it comes to hair, aesthetics, and massage. Each is tucked away in its own spot. Haircuts and color, for example, take place in a private room where Kasia Kaczmarczyk and Jessica Rangel use products like Kevin Murphy and Moroccan Oil. Longtime clients with busy schedules have been known to book in with a friend during evening hours, maximizing their catch-up time by combining it with beautification.
Facial and waxing clients, many of whom she begins seeing in their teens, love esthetician Molly Perona.
Christine Francese is available for laser hair removal and facials, including laser photofacials. Pam Neitzel, cosmetic nurse specialist, works with Christine and has years of experience in advances techniques for improving the aging process by employing Botox, Dysport, Radiesse, Juvéderm, Restylane, and so much more.
Massage therapists Debra Kerwin and Robert Burgonio work with everyone from golfers to expectant mothers to provide a healing touch.
The exclusive products that are available for purchase in the center support the services and allow for a bit of the Fixe bliss at home. “We’ve got everything to help you feel great about yourself,” says Jeanne.
