After a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony to open the school, the School of Rock performed their own tradition: a smashing of a guitar outside the school. John Karstrand, a great advocate for School of Rock who serves on the village Economic Development Committee, did the honors. More than 150 students and parents toured the school and took free trial lessons. A house band from the Naperville school played in the afternoon. The house band is a group of School of Rock students in the school’s Performance Program, which is made up of some of their most dedicated students.
