The largest single gift to the new wing so far is a $1 million donation from Michael J. Birck, founder of Tellabs, Inc. and his wife Katherine. The goal of the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation’s “Your Family, Your Health, Our Commitment” capital campaign is to raise $22 million for the patient pavilion and outpatient cancer center. The foundation is nearly halfway toward reaching that goal. Construction of the 100,000-square-foot pavilion began in 2010. The $75 million project was designed based on input from neighbors, patients, physicians, and hospital staff, and complements Adventist Hinsdale Hospital’s world-class care and technological advancements. The new space will have 277 beds, the majority in private rooms.
