A recent chilly winter evening became a lot cozier, thanks to the Hinsdale Center for the Art’s (HCA) benefit night of food, wine, and friends. On January 22, more than 75 supporters, arts aficionados, and wine lovers enjoyed an evening of cuisine and wine pairings at Il Poggiolo Ristorante in downtown Hinsdale. The special evening was punctuated with musical entertainment, most pointedly Achilles Besanis, a Hinsdale Central High School senior and tenor voice student of Patricia Hurd, HCA faculty member, with his performance of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s “Mattinata.” The menu, designed by Il Poggolio Chef Saul Maya with wines presented by Terlato Wine International, began with a sparkling Prosecco to accompany cocktails and entertainment, and featured a microgreen salad accompanied by Sokol Blosser Pinot Gris, followed by braised short rib stuffed ravioli complemented by Torresella, Nero d’Avola. The entrée featured grilled mahi-mahi over truffle butternut squash and pistachio risotto accompanied by Cuvaison Chardonnay. The dessert course offered an Amaretto crème brÛlée with Frangelico glaze and a tiramisu liqueur.
