The more than 900 attendees of the Salt Creek Ballet’s November 27 performance of The Nutcracker were invited to The Sugar Plum Party afterward, which provided a magical opportunity for the young ones to meet and greet the cast members. Held at the Hinsdale Central Auditorium, more than $5,000 was raised from the event, all to benefit the Salt Creek Ballet. The Nutcracker was supported, in part, from a grant from the Community Arts Access Program, as well as the Hinsdale Center for the Arts. Guests of the party went onstage to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, played by principal guest artists from the Colorado Ballet, Maria Mosina and Alexi Tyukov. Children could step inside Mother Ginger’s enormous skirt, play with the stage snow, and take a ride on Clara’s gondola to the Land of Sweets. Guests were then invited for refreshments to enjoy cookies and dance to traditional Christmas music in the staged Winter Wonderland of the auditorium.
