The Hinsdale Central High School girls’ varsity gymnastics team has some big shoes to fill. Last year’s team went undefeated during the regular season of the West Suburban Conference Silver last winter. They went on to both Regionals and Sectionals, and ultimately placed an impressive 5th in State. But four of the six team members moved on to college or other pursuits, leaving this year’s varsity team with no seniors.
Never mind all that. These gymnasts are determined to make their mark with their combined strengths and experience—they’ve each been doing gymnastics for 10 years, which must be a sign of things to come.
“The girls are working really hard,” says coach Kim Estoque after the Red Devil Invite. “We came close to our team goal of 140 where we scored a 139.5.”
Hinsdale Living caught up with the team during their photo shoot
for this issue. Here, we introduce them and share their thoughts on
personal strengths and goals for this year.
