Dr. Cheryl Perlis is a board-certified physician who specializes in natural hormonal therapy, brain and body biochemistry, and aesthetic procedures. Having been in private practice in Lake Bluff since 1990, she knows that beauty comes from inside out. Whether the client is a woman or a man, the approach at Perlis Wellness Center (perliswellnesscenter.com) is always the same. Dr. Perlis looks at patients as “a whole person,” treating not only requests for cosmetic improvements but also diet, hormone therapies, and overall well-being. A big focus of Dr. Perlis’s work is on the brain and how the brain controls behaviors that determine the quality of our health. “So many of our life decisions are determined by how our brain works,” she says. Here are a few of this life-changing doctor’s favorite lasts.
Last moment with a client that made you proud of what you’re doing?
My patient had been feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, some depression, and not sleeping well. First I started on hormone therapy, then through the hcg diet, she lost 25 pounds, then had dermal fillers and Botox done. She feels at least 5 years younger.
Last great book you read?
I love The power of Intention, by Wayne Dwyer
Last amazing meal or recipe that was healthy and delicious?
I admit my husband is a better cook but I did make a Vegan cheesecake (with cashews) with walnut crust … so good.
Last inspiring epiphany that you now utilize in your wellness practice?
That I need to continue creating partnerships with my patients and meet them on their terms to help them achieve both their cosmetic and health goals.
Last piece of summer skin care advice you received that you now pass along to others?
Well, I hate to admit this but I do believe in getting some Vitamin D, which I think many people are deficient in. When in the sun, I recommend using a swim shirt with UV protection and utilizing Elta MD physical defense, which is a physician-exclusive sunblock, for the face and body.
