Collecting books for at-risk children.
When Lake Forest resident Rebecca Asfour decided to renovate and relaunch her popular cycle studio at The Dailey Method in Lake Forest, she wanted to tie it to a philanthropic endeavor. The obvious choice was Bernie’s Book Bank, a Lake Bluff-based nonprofit group that collects, processes, and distributes quality new and gently-used books to children in need throughout Chicago.
“I have always been an avid reader and I believe in the power of books—how they can transport us to a new world and inspire us to look at things through a different lens,” says Asfour, who purchased her studio in 2015. “Books not only open doors for children in need, they bring joy.”
The partnership means that The Dailey Method on E. Westminster Avenue will serve as the only downtown Lake Forest collection site for Bernie’s Book Bank throughout the month of November. The book drive will cumulate with a party on Thursday, November 30, that will include a charity ride for Bernie’s Book Bank followed by cocktails and snacks.
While stopping by and dropping off a book, clients at The Dailey Method will get to see the newly renovated cycle studio, which includes a powerful speaker system, multicolored lighting, and an instructor stage for better student-teacher interaction.
The charity ride to benefit Bernie’s Book Bank on November 30 includes a 6 to 6:45 p.m. cycle class taught by Asfour, followed by cocktails from 6:45 to 8 p.m. In addition to books, financial donations to Bernie’s Book Bank are also encouraged on the evening of the charity ride.
The Dailey Method is located at 188 E. Westminster Avenue in Lake Forest. For more information, call 847-283-9000 or visit thedaileymethod.com/studios/lake-forest/.
