Clearly Kathy Burden and Chrissy Davis enjoy being a part of the Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Women’s Board. Forest & Bluff recently sat down with these Lake Forest residents to discuss the upcoming Holiday Shopping Boutique held at the Lake Forest Recreation Center November 19 through 21.
Between these two women, they have served 10 years on the Women’s Board chairing silent auctions, spearheading the wine raffle, organizing The Women’s Board Table at the annual boutique, and this year chairing the Hospital Boutique together.
The Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital Holiday Boutique will showcase more than 30 vendors from across the country. One third of these vendors are new this season, making this a perfect destination to find unique gifts for family and friends. The Recreation Center will be transformed into a jubilant shopping area decked out in plum and apple green hues.
From high-end to cost-conscious, the mixture of vendors will include: women’s, children’s & men’s clothing, home goods, stationary, handbags, outerwear, toys, furs, custom portraits, and, of course, Harbor Sweets, with board member, Maddie Duggan.
All profits for Harbor Sweets go directly to the hospital. “Attendees will have the chance to work with Personal Shoppers from our board stationed throughout the boutique each day,” says Kathy Burden. “There is also a Pediatric Giving Tree with festive décor for those wishing to make a straight donation towards pediatrics.”
For shoppers with a sweet tooth, there will be a delectable table of baked goods. The Bake Shop will feature home baked bites and gifts for the holidays from the kitchens of the Women’s Board. Gifts, snacks, and gorgeous spreads of goodies will abound at this festive holiday table. All sweets will be wrapped and ready for giving, with 100 percent of profits going straight to the hospital.
On November 19, it’s Mistletoe & Martinis for Preview Night. Guests will enjoy valet parking and feast on fabulous hors d’oeuvres and wine from 6 to 8:30 pm. The night will feature music and board members modeling gorgeous collections from the women’s vendors, thanks to Preview Night Chairs Susan Loiacano and Amy Davidson. Preview Night tickets are $50 per person and includes entry into the boutique all three days.
“One of the best parts of working on the Women’s Board is meeting these wonderful women of all ages,” says Chrissy Davis. “The board also hears directly from the hospital’s executives and physicians the impact fundraising efforts have for health education and medical advancements.”
In addition to the Holiday Boutique, board members Meredith Drake and Lisa Gilcrest are busy chairing the annual black tie benefit party. The Gift of Giving Gala takes place December 12. The evening is sure to be a fabulous one of merriment and holiday cheer.
The mission of the Women’s Board is to support the hospital through fundraising, volunteerism, education, and advocacy. As a group, they have pledged to raise an historic $2 million of support towards the Our Legacy, Our Future Destination for Health campaign established at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. The $2 million pledge will support the new facility (slated to open Fall 2017) and clinical departments, which ensure the highest quality of compassionate care.
