On May 3, College Park will host “Play for Peace,” a fundraiser for Denise Murphy’s favorite charity, House of Peace—a domestic violence shelter. Kids are invited to an evening of tennis and fun at 6 p.m. with some of the area’s best pros. As Denise prepares to serve up a winning event, here are the five things that she can’t live without.
1. Family and friends
They are always there for you, no matter what! My father was the ultimate role model.
I look at all of my blessings and I’m so thankful. House of Peace came into my life in 2010. My tennis camp proceeds have benefitted House of Peace ever since.
It’s just a part of who I am. It’s amazing that today I get to teach the game I love.
4. Big Sand Lake, Wisconsin
We have a log house that we visit all year-round and no electronics are allowed. We fish, catch frogs, sled, and have killer games of Monopoly and Uno. I crush!
Once in Maine, we were having a lobster boil. Before cooking the critters, we challenged the kids to see how many lobsters we could pile on them. Finding the fun makes the memories last.
