On July 28 from noon to 2 p.m. Tamara Mannelly will be offering classes to teach the health benefits of fermentation as well as a few simple and tasty recipes that your whole family will enjoy.
Fermentation is an ancient form of preservation and an easy, delicious and nutritious way to savor your summer produce. Full of enzymes and probiotics to help digestion and health, common fermented foods include yogurt, sauerkraut and kim chi. During her demo-style class, Tamara will be offering recipes for fermented tomato salsa, lemonade, beet kvass, Carolina cole slaw and mixed berries. She will also be providing session notes and a few additional tips and tricks to get your family excited for these new dishes.
The two hour class is being offered for $75 plus an additional $20 kit that will include two wide mouth pint size jars, one food funnel, two packets of fermentation starter and three glass fermentation weights. Visit elawafarm.org for more details and to purchase admittance.
