Barrington High School junior Sarah Saile was just an ordinary teenager before her mother Tricia told her about the “Mario, Make Me A Model” competition at Mario Tricoci. “She encouraged me to go to the open call and I thought it was a great opportunity so I decided to try out,” says Sarah, one of seven semifinalists in the October 24 finale. The entire Saile family—including identical twin sister Samantha; two brothers, Tyler and Tanner; mother and father Tor Saile—will surely be cheering her on. Here are a few of this fashionable South Barrington teen’s lasts:
Last fashion find that you still brag about?
I bought this beautiful red jean jacket about a year ago that I found at a thrift store for only $10. I love shopping at thrift stores almost as much as other stores like Nordstrom because I love the hunt to find unique pieces. I am all about having a different style than everyone else to express myself. My favorite color is red because it is a very empowering color so it’s my favorite piece in my closet.
Last movie that made you think?
The Greatest Showman because I love it how they take outcasts who are different from everyone else and proves how amazing they are. There are people who make fun of the outcasts but they stay true to themselves and love themselves no matter what. The movie shows how everyone is beautiful in their own special way.
Last crazy decision you made that you will never regret?
March of 2018 my mom, sister, and I decided to go to L.A. for two weeks to try out for L.A. Fashion Week. We got the job and it was the best trip of my life. I met so many incredible people that I keep in touch with today.
Last piece of advice you’ve given or received?
My parents have always told me to stay true to myself and never listen to the haters. I have dealt with many rude peers over the years but I don’t let them hurt me anymore. My dad helped me realize that people hurt others because they are hurt themselves so I’ve learned that I can’t listen to them and that I just need to love myself.
Last fabulous Halloween costume you wore more than once?
I wore the same dog costume for three years in a row as a kid, and I loved it more and more each year.
