More than 800 guests took in the splendors of the 18th Annual Barrington Garden Fair and Marketplace during the two-day event in mid- June. Attendees enjoyed shopping the upscale market, taking in three impeccably maintained gardens, and nibbling on gourmet fare. The Friday through Saturday affair raised more than $220,000 for Hands of Hope, an organization founded by the event’s host, Vicky Wauterlek. Hands of Hope is a highly motivated group of Chicago-area women whose efforts support ongoing sustainable systems for women and children in the African countries of Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, and Zambia. handsofhopeonline.org
