GRAND SLAM ENGAGEMENT
When it came time for Barrington event planner Christina Currie to begin planning an engagement party for Barrington couple Alex Trzaska and Payton Bulmer, there was one thing she knew needed to be part of the theme—the love of baseball and their respective home teams. “Displaying their passions for baseball and unifying their teams’ colors of red and blue, the event was filled with Cubs and Kansas City decor,” says Currie, explaining that Trzaska met Bulmer at Kansas University. “It was a grand slam to love, laughter, and happily ever after.” The late September engagement party was held at Inverness Country Club and included a KC barbecue station along with a Chicago station. Interestingly enough, Currie notes that she also planned Trzaska’s 8th grade and high school graduation parties. “I love building long-lasting relationships,” she says. MODERN MARVEL
It’s never too soon to start putting together your holiday wish list. With that in mind, Bulova has announced the groundbreaking debut of the world’s first curved chronograph movement. Called the Bulova CURV, the collection is a marvel of technical engineering with a sleek ergonomic design and a slim case never before possible in a chronograph movement. Built from the inside out, CURV is engineered with a high-performance quartz movement that vibrates at 262kHz frequency for precise accuracy. On the outside, Bulova’s applied design technology makes an aerodynamic statement with a refined, contoured simplicity that exactly follows the wrist. The sales staff at Timothy Grant Jewelry is expecting that this will be at the top of many lists this season. Timothy Grant Jewelry is located at 10 S. AWARD WINNING KITCHEN
Congratulations to Katie Wozniak, principal of Katherine Elizabeth Designs, for bringing home honors in the American Society of Interior Designers, Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL), Celebration of Design and Design Excellence Awards. Katherine Elizabeth Designs’ award-winning mid-century modern kitchen is said to have brought the clients “full circle” by blending retro charm with modern sensibility. A walnut island covered in Cambria quartz serves as the hub of the kitchen, which opens up to the dining and great rooms. Eames-inspired counter stools and dining chairs set the stage, while ceiling-high white lacquer cabinets capture the aesthetic of the mid-century era with their high gloss varnish. Large-scale paintings and period sculptures provide a pop of color. “We were able to create a showpiece for the clients’ artwork and sculptures, design smart storage solutions, and maximize light, space, and ‘livability,” Wozniak says. Her Katherine Elizabeth Fine Arts Gallery opens this month at 800 S. Northwest Highway in Barrington to expand its reach and capabilities even further. For more information, visit kedinteriors.com.
