Concerned Lake Bluff Taxpayers writes in the Reader Forum: “It became first publicly known to visitors at the Aug.14 Lake Bluff School District 65 meeting that $12.5 million has been accumulated in cash reserves over the past six years. These funds were the result of a systematic tax levy of surpluses (i.e. excess of tax and other revenues over operating expenses) averaging $2 million per year.

The Lake Forest High School Foundation awarded its one-millionth dollar in grants this month. The lucky grant to tip the cumulative total over the $1,000,000 mark was awarded to Social Studies department chair, Dr. Jim Gantt, for two classroom sets of iPads, preloaded with interactive e-textbooks and apps.
