Lake Forest Country Day School invites area families to celebrate the winter season with activities, music, stories, and refreshments in the School’s Early Childhood Center (ECC) on Sunday, January 13 at 3 p.m. This event is free and open to all area families with children ages 2-6 years old.
Based on the classic children’s folktale, “The Gingerbread Man,” guests will enjoy an afternoon of adventures with stories, music, games, crafts, and refreshments. After a musical welcome with Golden Apple-recognized LFCDS music teacher Maria Hempen, ECC faculty will lead ginger-bread-themed activities delivering science, fine arts, and literacy principles in innovative ways.
“Our Early Childhood program, which encompasses children age 2 through senior kindergarten, has enjoyed tremendous success in providing our youngest students with an engaging and nurturing introduction to the experiential learning environment that is the hallmark of the LFCDS experience,” says Sara Walsh, director of the Early Childhood Center. “From our classrooms to the play-based delivery system of our rich curriculum, the LFCDS Early Childhood program is intentionally designed to inspire and encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and relationship building throughout each individual child’s day.”
The afternoon will include story time snack with 1st STEP teacher Sue Buhrmester who brings her stories to life with an entertaining troop of animal puppets.
“Lake Forest Country Day School is truly a family school dedicated to fostering a supportive com- munity for both our students and our families,”says Walsh. “Winter Fun Fest is a wonderful opportunity to come together and share with the greater community the warmth, innovation, and passion for learning that infuse each day at LFCDS.”
