LAKE FOREST – For Montessori School of Lake Forest students Viola Stewart and Major Mandarich, being School Director for a Day was both informative and fun. Each student had the opportunity to shadow Ann Jordahl, MSLF’s actual School Director, and learn what it means to run their school.
Stewart and Mandarich began the day assisting with carpool and welcoming their friends. As the school day progressed, they observed in classes at every level, asking teachers and students if they had any requests for them. They met with school administrators, faculty and staff learning about the Development, Finance, Marketing and Admissions responsibilities. They even answered the phone, handled several maintenance requests and helped with the school yearbook. With a head full or information and a clipboard of notes, they reported all their findings back to Ms. Jordahl at the end of their day.
While they both had a full agenda to cover, there were definitely some favorite moments. Major enjoyed being a special guest, visiting and observing in her younger sister’s toddler classroom, while Viola took great pride in sharing classroom needs and maintenance requests with Mr. Kevin, and checking off her list. Congratulations to both students on a job well done!
