There is no better season to celebrate pets than summertime in the heart of Lake Forest. This June, Gorton Community Center will give visitors two opportunities to spoil a pooch.
On June 10, Gorton will partner for the first time with PAWS Chicago, a no-kill animal shelter, for Adoption Day. PAWS will bring a number of animals in need of safe homes and you may get to bring one home. Adoption papers will be filed on site at Gorton that day from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is a day for the entire family! Not interested in adopting a pet – still come for the fun and support others. There will be live music by Ali Jackson along with a Kids Corner that includes face painting and other activities.
On June 23, Gorton will host its annual Dog Day. Join Gorton in its parking lot for this warm-weather tradition beginning at 10 a.m. enjoying man’s best friend. Blue ribbons will be given for best costume, most talented pup, and strongest resemblance to your pet. Local rescue groups, food, and live music from School of Rock in Highwood will be on hand to add to the festive atmosphere.
