GLENCOE — Since last summer, the Village of Glencoe, the Glencoe Sustainability Task Force, School District 35 and the Glencoe Park District have been working in partnership with the Active Transportation Alliance to develop the Village’s first community-wide Active Transportation Plan (ATP). Once completed, the plan will outline a series of recommendations intended to improve the Village’s sidewalks, pathways and streets in a way that accommodates the needs of cyclists and pedestrians of all ages and ability levels.
The Glencoe community is invited to learn more about the Active Transportation Plan at a community workshop from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8 at the Takiff Center, 999 Green Bay Road. Attendees will learn about the feedback the Active Transportation Alliance has received from the community surveys regarding barriers to active travel and preferred routes. Attendees will also be asked to brainstorm ideas to aid the Village, District 35, Park District and the Alliance in the development of the Plan’s recommendations.
