WILMETTE – One car was stolen and seven cars were burglarized overnight on Sunday, April 8 to April 9. All of the vehicles were unlocked and parked on streets and driveways, including the stolen car, whose key fob had inadvertently been left inside it.

The stolen car was parked in the 1000 block of Elmwood Avenue. The seven reported auto burglaries occurred in these blocks:
- 400 block of Washington Avenue
- 900 block of Chestnut Avenue
- 1000 block of Elmwood Avenue
- 1300 block of Gregory Avenue
- 1400 block of Wilmette Avenue
- 1600 block of Walnut Avenue
At 8:08 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of Elmwood reported that at approximately 2:24 a.m., two suspicious vehicles were parked on the resident’s block. An unknown subject exited one of the vehicles and tried to open doors of vehicles parked on the south side of the street. It appears these parked vehicles were locked. When the resident turned on an outside light, the subject got into one of the suspicious vehicles and both vehicles went east on Elmwood Avenue.
