SEASON REVIEW

February just wasn’t kind.
Glenbrook North’s boys basketball team, which opened the season with a sterling 7-0 record, was on pace to win 20 games until the Spartans faltered late. In the final 29 days of the season, they went 1-6 to finish one game over .500 (14-13).
Without question, one of the high points of the season came in a home win over Grayslake North on Dec. 19. Evans Barnes’ performance that night was otherworldly. The senior guard brought the barn — eh, house — down by draining eight straight three-pointers and finishing with 30 points.
Kellen Witherell, a three-year starter, put up solid numbers and turned in some big moments. The senior forward, who figures to play at the next level, led the Spartans in scoring (11.5) and rebounding (4.4).
