Julia Martinez has joined some selective company.
The Loyola Academy junior point guard was one of 15 players named first team all-state in Class 3A/4A by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA).
Two other Ramblers also earned accolades. Senior center Lilly Wehman was a third-team selection, while junior forward Celia Satter was special mention all-state.
New Trier’s terrific twins, senior guards Cate and Maggie Murdock, also received special mention in Class 3A/4A, as did Glenbrook South senior guard Lizzy Shaw and junior forward Kristin Ralston and Lake Forest sophomore guard Halle Douglass.
In Class 1A/2A, North Shore Country Day sophomore Caroline Segal and Regina Dominican freshman Laura Strenk made the special mention list.
The other Class 3A/4A first-teamer include Maine West’s Alisa Fallon, Geneva’s Stephanie Hart and Margaret Whitley, Peoria Richwoods’ Kourtney Crane and Camryn Taylor, Edwardsville’s Kate Martin, Morton’s Tenley Dowell, Edwardsville’s Kate Martin, Rockton Hononegah’s Jordan King, Naperville Central’s Mia Lakstigala, Montini’s Aaliyah Patty, Nazareth’s Anne Stritzel, Rock Island’s Brea Beal and Bollingbrook’s Gabby Smith.
The Class 1A/2A first-team honorees include Latin’s Jade Edwards, Harvest Christian’s Alyssa Iverson, Annawan’s Jayde VanHyfte, Schlarman’s Anaya Peoples and Capria Brown, Gallatin County’s Hailey Chubb, Hillsboro’s Sammi Matoush, Chicago Harlan’s Kimera Burks, Eureka’s Tessa Leman, Lebanon’s Kendra Bass, Okaw Valley’s Paige Robinson, Central Southeastern’s Laney Lantz, Harrisburg’s Matty Hawkins, Illini West’s Baylee Clampitt and Princeton’s Anna Murray.
