LAKE FOREST – Fill-A-Heart-4-Kids is hosting a night of “spirited” fun while raising money for homeless youth in the Chicago area.
The “We Care” event is on Friday, February 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. at North Shore Distillery just outside of Lake Bluff. Admission includes Distillery’s signature drinks, cocktail crafting demonstrations and delicious heavy appetizers.
Money raised will purchase: “We Care Survival BackPacs.” These include nonperishable food, necessities, school supplies, food gift cards, toiletries and blankets for homeless youths!
Why We Care BackPacs for Homeless Kids?
- On an average night in America:
1.3 million* homeless youths are struggling to survive without the support of any family
- Many of these youths were abandoned by their families, escaped from physical, emotional or sexual abuse or aged out of foster care. Hundreds of homeless kids in Illinois are turned away from shelters daily because there are not enough beds.
They couch hop, some sleep in dumpsters, abandoned buildings, under viaducts wrapped in newspaper or tarps to stay warm and hidden from dangerous people and to protect their bodies from being bitten by rats.
- Many street kids are exploited and forced into survival sex for food and shelter.
Together we can help many children have a brighter future!
