Giving Rocks Unplugged 2017, an annual fundraiser to raise money to help find a cure for Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) and to end all pediatric cancer, was recently held at Fields Infiniti Glencoe. The Will Tilson Trio and Grammy-nominated Matthew Santos led a talented musical lineup of acoustic performances that also included sets by local teen musicians Piper Phillips, Mark Wehner, and Bernadette Kaup. The event included Syd Rocks necklace making, treats from Depot Nuevo, a silent auction, and a presentation by Dr. Kenneth McClain, Director of the Histiocytosis Program at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, who spoke about advancements in LCH research. More than $50,000 was raised.
Established in 2008 by Wilmette-native Syd Martin, Giving Rocks raises money through the sale of its signature Syd Rocks necklaces, events, and community activities. givingrocksfoundation.org
