LAKE FOREST – Go to Ribfest in Lake Bluff this weekend and then attend the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society’s Bacon Wars lecture at Elawa Farm on Thurday evening, October 12 and learn all about the history of the Chicago Union Stock Yard.
Retired history professor and author of Slaughterhouse Dominic Pacyga will walk us through the rise and eventual fall from grace of this infamous meatpacking city within a city.
And, of course, come craving bacon! Refreshments will be served and books will be available for signing.
Tickets are $20 for LFLB Historical Society Members, $30 Non-members.
