GLENCOE – A 29-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near the intersection of Sheridan and Lake Cook Roads just before 7 a.m. on Thursday, September 21.
The deceased has been identified as George Berdebes of Bourbonnais, a village in Kankakee County, according to Glencoe Deputy Police Chief Richard Weiner. The driver was deceased when authorities arrived on the scene.
The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) is assisting the Glencoe Public Safety department in its investigation of the incident.
The incident caused traffic to back up, especially those attending Rosh Hashanah services at North Shore Congregation Israel. Police advised those who were approaching from the north to take Green Bay Road to Maple Hill or Park Avenue, to Sheridan Road. Traffic approaching from the south was unaffected.
Weiner said the family has been notified. He also noted that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
