HIGHLAND PARK – The Metropolitan Chicago Region of Ort America will open its new resale shop location at 1710 First Street in downtown Highland Park at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 2. To celebrate the move and 20 years of business in downtown Highland Park, ORT Resale Shop is hosting a Grand Opening Event at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, with a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. with members of the ORT Region Board and Highland Park Chamber of Commerce.
This new location is significantly larger, allowing for more inventory and shopping, and offers a rear parking lot for easy donation drop offs! It is also conveniently located across from the Metra Train Station giving easy access to commuters. Managers are working hard at organizing the store and presenting a beautiful display of merchandise for the public to shop opening day.
“We are thrilled to introduce this new convenient space with easy transportation close to the train,” said Barbara Statland, Director of the Metropolitan Chicago Region of ORT America. “This will provide greater access for more people who need affordable clothing, all while supporting ORT and our educational programs throughout the world.”
The new location will begin accepting donations on Monday, September 11 and appreciate any gently used apparel, shoes and accessories, housewares, jewelry, artwork, bicycles, collectibles, working electronics, small appliances and small furniture, like chairs, end tables and lamps. The better the donations, the more sales are generated to help support ORT’s mission of being one of the largest non-governmental education and training organizations in the world.
Each year, more than 300,000 students benefit from ORT’s innovative curriculum and teaching methods, cutting-edge technology and equipment and highly trained, extremely committed teachers. ORT is providing its teachers and students with the tools and knowledge they need to Think, Create, Elevate and Thrive.
ORT invites the public to visit the new location and collect their best give-a-ways to donate and be a part of their new shopping experience. For more information, please call the ORT office at 847.291.0475.
