LAKE FOREST / LAKE BLUFF – The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society proudly announces Baseball Hall of Famer and current Cubs Ambassador Ryne Sandberg as their 2017 Local Legend.
Mr. Sandberg will be honored at the Historical Society’s signature Local Legends event on Saturday, September 23, 2017. The event takes place at 3:00 pm in Cressey Auditorium at Lake Forest Academy, 1500 West Kennedy Road, Lake Forest. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children under 12. A $500 Superfan Ticket Package is also available. Tickets can be purchased at www.lflbhistory.org or by calling the Historical Society at 847-234-5253. After the interview, there will be a reception for guests and the honoree.
Ryne Sandberg will be interviewed by radio host and sports columnist Barry Rozner. Their intimate, in-person conversation will reveal how Mr. Sandberg rose to the ranks of a Baseball Hall of Famer and how he is currently enjoying his retirement.
Ryne Sandberg set career records among 2nd basemen for home runs, fielding percentage and consecutive errorless games in a season. He earned 9 Gold Gloves, was elected to 10 All-Star teams and named National League MVP in 1984.
About Local Legends: Local Legends is a celebration of our community’s superstars. The Historical Society’s Local Legends event debuted in 2010 with a standing-room-only program honoring astronaut James Lovell. Now in its eighth year, the annual fundraiser supports educational programs and exhibits for people to explore, exchange and record stories about the community.
