Campaign 2 Save Lives (C2SL) celebrated the third anniversary of Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Barbara Ross Jacobson’s lifesaving umbilical cord transplant, which she received at the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
Surrounded by family, friends, business colleagues and fellow survivors, Co-Founder and President Bruce Jacobson and his wife, Barbara, who reside in Highland Park, expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support at their first fundraiser, May 16 at Gibson’s Steakhouse-Chicago. The event raised more than $35,000 to benefit ground-breaking research for leukemia and other myelodysplastic blood diseases to provide better treatments and patient outcomes.
The Jacobsons praised co-directors of the Leukemia Research Program, Jessica Altman, MD, and Olga Frankfurt, MD, for their extraordinary commitment and compassion to patients and their exceptional talents as research scientists and clinicians. They also thanked Leonidas Platanias, MD, PhD, director of the Lurie Cancer Center, for fostering a pioneering culture that advances significant research, discoveries and patient care.
