Classical symphonies, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Jazz, and more… there are music festivals and live concert events held every week on the North Shore this summer. Mix in some great food, vendors and community fun and your summer music fest experience is complete with these offerings. Here’s a roundup of all the musical events you won’t want to miss out on. Bluffinia Summer Concert Series is one of the best parts of summer in Lake Bluff. These concerts on the Lake Bluff Village Green are held Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Here is a listing of the concerts series:
- July 4 – Blooze Brothers (Tribute and Show Band)– at the beach
- July 9 – Hifi Superstar (Cover Band)
- July 16 – Wild Daisy (Country)
- July 23 – The Flat Cats (Jazz/Blues)

Foodstock Concert will be held on Sunday, June 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. This concert event benefits the Lake County C.O.O.L. Food Pantry where participants can enjoy a variety of musical acts and food. Participants are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to benefit Lake County residents in need. This year’s bands include The Housewreckers, Bushwood and The Good on Sunday Band. Foodstock will be held on the Village Green in Lake Bluff.
Come out and enjoy Concerts in the Square on Thursdays, June 15 to July 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Lake Forest Parks and Recreation invites you to enjoy some summer fun at the Concerts in the Square. Music, food, fun for the whole family. Sponsored by Lake Forest Bank and Trust and L3Capital, LLC.
Don’t miss your chance to contribute to the summer music scene with Open Mic Night at Forest Park Beach on the third Tuesday of every month from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Do you play an instrument or read poetry? Are you involved in dance or a play and need a relaxing, comfortable environment to practice in front of others? Whatever your situation, come and join the community for Open Mic Nights at the Fire Circle in a beautiful beach setting. All ages welcome.
Highwood Evening Markets will be held on Wednesdays from June 14 through August 30, 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Recognized as one of the best markets on the North Shore, this vibrant party in the park has become a tradition for friends and family seeking great food, entertainment and shopping. Every Wednesday in Everts Park, guests are able to enjoy dinner and cocktails, while exploring the market’s many vendors and listening to different live music acts. Check out some of the many Ravinia Concerts offered at Ravinia Pavilion, one of the most prominent spots in Highland Park. It has booked shows from now all the way through September, including Sheryl Crow, the Juilliard String Quartet, OneRepublic, Darius Rucker and the last concert being Los Tigres Del Norte on September 17. Get your tickets while you can.
Highland Park also offers Concerts in the Plaza every Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Port Clinton Square in Downtown Highland Park. Join the community for great music this summer.
The Summer Sampler Series will be held on Sundays, June 18 through August 13 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in Mitchell Park. Snack on pizza as you enjoy the music or sit down and picnic with your family and friends. Concerts will include acts such as Billy Croft and the 5-Alarm band. Eat to the Beat is a daytime concert series running every Wednesday from July 12 through August 9. Eat to the Beat is a weekly lunch concert series where you can bring a picnic, listen to music and play in the park. Come out and see fun acts such as Super Stolie and Jimmy Mac. Each concert will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Jewett Park.
Tuesdays in the Park will be held Tuesday nights in the Village Green Park. Bring your friends and family, along with lawn chairs or picnic blankets, to enjoy free outdoor concerts. Food service begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by concerts at 7:00 p.m.

Chicago Botanic Gardens has a variety of musical events to attend this summer. With various music experiences throughout the week, there is something for the whole family. Check out all of their musical offerings and line ups here.
- Carillon Concerts
Enjoy an enchanting one hour musical performance of carillon bells on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. and watch lights illuminate Evening Island. Through a regularly scheduled series of concerts each summer, carillonneurs from around the world delight garden visitors with the captivating music of the 48-bell Theodore C. Butz Memorial Carillon. Meet the performers and enjoy a free carillon tour and demonstration before the concert — you can even try your hand at ringing the bells.
- Tuesday Morning Music
From 10:00 t0 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays mornings hear chamber music, jazz, Spanish guitar, and even carillon music. Free concerts in the McGinley Pavilion, rain or shine.
- Music on the Esplanade
Each Tuesday evening brings a different kind of music, from big band to swing to bluegrass. Watch the sun set over the Smith Fountain as you enjoy the music from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
- Hot Summer Nights
On Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. bring your dancing shoes and friends and kick it up a notch with high-energy music as you enjoy the upbeat tempo of a host of diverse genres.
The Wednesdays in the Woods Concert Series will be held Wednesday evenings, June 14 to July 26 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. (Hubbard Woods Park, 939 Green Bay Road). The Grand Food Center will be on-site selling hot dogs, brats, burgers, chips, candy, beverages and Chef Tim’s Specials from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m. at all Wednesdays in the Woods Concerts. Adults can enjoy a beverage at the Winnetka Park Foundation’s Beer and Wine Garden from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Click here for a full listing of concerts.
The Winnetka Music Festival is new in 2017 and you won’t want to miss it. Come out to Downtown Winnetka on June 23 and 24 for a free festival with touring artists performing throughout this unique community. In addition to great music enjoy the unique tastes of craft beers and quality wines and great food. The Music on the Green summer concert series will take place on the third Tuesday of each month beginning Tuesday, June 20th at 7:00 p.m. on the front lawn of Village Hall. Back for its 18th year, Thursday Night Live will return to Downtown Evanston on Thursdays from June 15 to August 24th, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Each Thursday night will spotlight a different music genre from Jazz and Swing to Rock and Roll and Beatles covers. This year, they are also adding more big games (Scrabble, Jenga, Twister and more) and other kids activities. Grab a to-go dinner from one of the local restaurants to dine al fresco or grab your partner to dance the night away. Chairs are provided, but guests are welcome to bring other seating. The Custer Fair will return to Evanston on June 17 and 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The entertainment at Custer Fair amazes and delights on three stages. The Festival Stage features some of Chicagoland’s jazz legends.
In addition to music, over 300 local and regional artists, craftspeople, and commercial vendors come together over Father’s Day weekend to exhibit and sell paintings, ceramics, pottery, photographs, jewelry, graphic arts, wearable art, country and home craft, antiques and collectables. Over 30 food vendors offer a full international menu featuring the old favorites as well as new fare. Don’t miss this amazing annual event.
