From December 1 through January 23, 2017, The Goddard School preschools located in the greater Chicago area kicked off their 4th annual charity book drive with the goal of collecting over 25,000 books for Bernie’s Book Bank – the largest provider of quality books to at-risk children in the Chicagoland area. On January 25, The Goddard School gathered their preschoolers for the final count: 26,000 books! School owners, children and volunteers then spent the morning sorting and stickering thousands of books at Bernie’s Book Bank’s facility in Lake Bluff.
To date, The Goddard School has donated more than 130,000 books to Bernie’s Book Bank. Studies have shown that access to age-appropriate books and reading aloud to children are essential for developing language and reading skills. With this donation from The Goddard School, Bernie’s Book Bank is able to make book ownership a reality for many more children in need in the area. goddardschool.com/Chicago; berniesbookbank.org
