GLENCOE – The Glencoe Junior High Project is shaking up the stage this weekend with a production of All Shook Up, a musical comedy built around songs made famous by Elvis Presley.
Performances began on Feb. 9 and continue on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, feb. 12 at 1 p.m.
All Shook Up is a 2004 American jukebox musical with Elvis Presley music and with a book by Joe DiPietro.
The musical is not a biographical revue; it takes place in 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl’s dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of rock ‘n’ roll. Among the 24 songs featured in the score are classics like “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and of course the title tune, “All Shook Up”.
Adam Busch — supported by a full professional staff including choreographer, musical director, set designer, master set builder, and technical director — returns to direct his sixth GJHP Play. Adam’s vast experience and professionalism will ensure an entertaining and high-caliber production, which will be a great experience for the cast, crew and the audience.
This is the 40th production of the Glencoe Junior High Project, which includes sixth through eighth graders, at Central School in Glencoe. GJHP is a nonprofit organization separate from Glencoe District 35, providing middle school students with opportunities for social responsibility and community engagement.
