LAKE BLUFF– 8th Annual Turkey Shoot Support the Friends of the Lake Bluff Parks Foundation by participating in their 8th Annual Turkey Shoot golf tournament. Your participation supports their mission and helps to provide long-term funding for parks, programs, and facilities through philanthropy and collaboration with individuals, families, community groups and partner organizations.

DEERFIELD- Deerfield Family Theater Presents ‘Big‘ Deerfield Family Theater will perform one of America’s favorite movies on stage, and it’s a show you won’t want to miss. The performances will take place at the Caruso Auditorium located at 1801 Montgomery Road, Deerfield. The performances will be on November 11 and 18 at 7:30 p.m., November 12 and 19 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and November 13 and 20 at 2 p.m.
Deerfield Family Theater was founded by the Deerfield Park District in 2000, continuing the long-running and successful Children’s Theater of Deerfield, Inc. DFT combines all the fun and excitement of a professional theater environment, with a neighborhood atmosphere and a family-oriented setting.
WINNETKA- Habitat Restoration Project At Skokie Lagoons This project will take place on Saturday, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Join the Winnetka Park District, BackYard Nature Center and the Cook County Forest Preserve Steward for a morning of service and habitat restoration in the Skokie Lagoons! 4th graders and older will have the opportunity to use saws and loppers to remove invasive buckthorn trees and younger children can beautify the lagoons by collecting trash with their parents.
Afterwards, participants are welcome to bring s’mores, hot dogs or other food for roasting over the brush pile fire. Tools and gloves will be provided. We will meet at the corner of Tower Road and Forestway Drive under the BackYard Nature Center Banner. Please Note: All minors must have an adult present to sign a waiver for the Cook County Forest Preserve.
HIGHLAND PARK- Veteran’s Day Observance The City of Highland Park will host the Annual Veterans Day Observance on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Highland Park Public Library, 494 Laurel Avenue in the Adult Services Room, at 11 a.m. As 2016 marks the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the event will recognize local World War II veterans. Representatives from the American Legion Post #145, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4737 and Jewish War Veterans #29 will be in attendance. Special guest speakers include Illinois Senator Julie Morrison and Mayor Nancy Rotering. The Highland Park High School Brass Quintet will perform.
LAKE FOREST- 1st Annual Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off The Church of the Holy Spirit Youth Group will be host the First Annual Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off, on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Make a batch of your favorite homemade chili, and win! There will be games, photo booth, bake sale, caramel apple bar, crafts, raffle and a Chili Cook-Off contest. Tickets will be sold at the door, $10 for adults, and $8 for children 10 and under. CHICAGO- 8th Annual SOAR Artisan Market SOAR Artisan Market is a fabulous indoor, pre-holiday and gift art market in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. The event will be held November 11-13 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The highly anticipated event, now in its 8th year, will showcase the work of more than 60 of the area’s most interesting and unique juried artists who work in a variety of mediums including jewelry, wonderful wearables, decor for the home, and so much more! WILMETTE- Family Dance Party This family fun event combines freestyle, guided dancing and musical games for ages 3 & up. This is a parent-inclusive event and all children must be accompanied with an adult. This event will take place November 11th from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center. The cost is $9 for residents and $11 for non-residents.
EVANSTON- Over the Rainbow Association’s 27th Annual Celebration Concert: Patti LuPone In Don’t Monkey with Broadway, two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone explores, through indelible interpretations of classic Broadway show tunes–by the likes of Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Jule Styne, Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, and Irving Berlin–how her life-long love affair with Broadway began, and her concern for what the Great White Way is becoming today.
All proceeds from the Celebration Concert will be donated to Over the Rainbow’s Future Housing and Resident Services Programs to improve the quality of life for individuals with physical disabilities through the creation of affordable, accessible, barrier-free housing solutions and person-centered services that encourage independence.
