A little Scottish mist didn’t stop the 1,800 supporters of Lake Forest Open Lands from enjoying a fall afternoon in the Middlefork Farm Nature Preserve at the end of September. Bagpipes and Bonfire is a North Shore tradition for many, with the Searle-Burnett family having served as chairs for the afternoon. After the rain, Field Marshal John Dick coordinated the crowd-pleasing skydivers, sponsored by Coldwell Banker, which was followed by the bagpipe band march and the lighting of the brush bonfire by Peter and Marina Carney, with their grandson Chris Vernon and wife Erika. lfola.org
