LAKE FOREST – It was nearly 6 p.m. and the evening rush hour was in full swing on Thursday, Sept. 8, when Lake Forest police received a 911 call from a driver about a road rage incident taking place on southbound Route 41 and Old Elm Road.
According to the LFPD, the caller said a driver of one vehicle displayed a hand gun to another motorist. The caller provided a description of the suspected car, and police from Lake Forest and Highland Park located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. In the car they found a loaded black-colored 9MM Springfield XD, and they charged the driver, James M. Gerstenberg, age 27, of 14375 W. Shankiln, Green Oaks, with Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Police transported him to the Lake Forest Public Safety Building, where he was processed, released on $1,500 bond and given an Oct. 7, 2016 court date in Waukegan.
