This sculpture attracted writer A.J. Goldsmith’s attention, so he rang the owner’s bell to learn more …
LAKE FOREST – Driving along Old Elm Street in Lake Forest one afternoon, I noticed a six-foot-tall, stainless-steel sculpture in front of a house. I parked around the corner on Buena Avenue and walked back to address 220 to look closely at the sculpture and to take its picture.
No one answered the door when I knocked so I left and returned another time.
When I returned I met the homeowner, Margaret Kaczmarek, and asked her to tell me about the sculpture.
“We’ve lived here about two years and one day while I was looking out of the window at the modest landscaping, I thought that a piece of sculpture would do something to enhance the frontage,” she said.
Mrs. Kaczmarek told me that she searched the Internet, especially Craig’s List, and found the six-foot-tall sculpture that she has named “Dancing Woman.”
The sculpture’s former owner lived in Highland Park, she said.
The two of us search around the sculpture for the name of the artist, but were unable to locate any signature.
