Four New Trier grads were difference makers for Denison this spring.
Amanda Howell had a terrific first season with the Big Red (22-14). The freshman third baseman hit .400 with 33 runs batted in and claimed second team honors on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Central Region team. She poked a team-high 14 doubles and finished the season with a .527 slugging percentage. Howell also was named second-team all-conference.
Meanwhile, sophomore Lauren Secaras, a 2014 New Trier grad, made first-team all-conference, while Laura Bagan, a 2015 grad New Trier grad, was honorable mention all-conference.
Secaras, who also earned first-team all-league selection last season, hit .396 in league play with 16 runs batted in. She batted .410 in all games with 27 RBIs.
Bagan batted .347 against league pitching with 15 RBIs. For the season, she hit .320.
Ryan Lee also helped the Denison cause. The junior started all 36 games and hit .295 with 11 doubles and 20 RBIs.
Ellie Head, a 2016 New Trier graduate, will join forces with Howell, Secaras, Bagan and Lee next season.
Middlebury: Allison Quigley turned in solid work for Middlebury College. The sophomore pitcher, a former standout at New Trier, finished 9-3 with a 2.72 earned run average in 13 starts for the Panthers (21-11) this past spring. The right-hander allowed 73 hits in 64.1 innings. She had 47 strikeouts and 27 walks.
Union: New Trier grad Dana Dolinko made 16 starts and pitched a team-high 97.1 innings during her freshman campaign at Union College in Schenectady, New York. Dolinka ended up 5-12 with a 4.17 ERA. She also played infield for the Spartans and hit .202.
