LAKE FOREST – Lake Forest College is hosting a free performance and conversation with world-renowned Irish fiddle player Liz Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12.
Accompanied on piano and guitar by Jake Charron, Carroll will perform in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel on the College’s Middle Campus. Lake Forest College is located at 555 N. Sheridan Road in Lake Forest, Illinois.
This musical concert will include an onstage interview with Carroll as part of the College’s ongoing Ruth Winter Lecture series. Winter was instrumental in bringing prominent speakers to the College, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Katharine Hepburn, and Dag Hammarskjold.
A recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship Award and the first Irish-American musician nominated for a Grammy Award, Carroll will talk about her career and Irish music in the United States.
Featured on 11 albums, Carroll’s newest work, On the Offbeat, has been called magnificent and timeless by the critics, and “… one of the best albums of the decade so far” by Irish Music Magazine. Go to www.lizcarroll.com for more information.
