LAKE BLUFF – The Village Quilters of Lake Bluff/Lake Forest and the North Shore Chapter of the NSDAR will honor U.S. veterans on Saturday, Oct. 3 with the presentation of more than 20 quilts to those who have served our country. The Quilts of Valor event will take place in conjunction with the Guild’s biennial quilt show at 1 pm at the Libertyville Sports Complex, 1950 N. Highway 45 in Libertyville.
This is the Guild’s 2nd year of participation in the Quilts of Valor. The show will run Friday, October 2 from 10 AM – 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM – 5 PM. Admission is $7, seniors $6 and children are free. Tickets will be available at the door.
The event will include more than 250 quilts on display; the Merchant Market; a quilting workshop; a Member’s Boutique; and quilt raffle. The Guild holds biennial quilt shows and this is the 2nd year of participation with Quilts of Valor.
The DAR is qualified by the Department of Defense as a partner for United States of America Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration. North Shore Chapter will sponsor two commemorative events each year through 2017 as a part of the Vietnam War anniversary.
On November 14, North Shore and Fort Dearborn DAR chapters will partner with the US government in observance of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War at the Dawes House in Evanston where Medal of Honor recipient Allen Lynch will speak on his “Reflections of the Vietnam War.” For more information about the November program, contact [email protected]
