LAKE FOREST – It is tradition at Lake Forest High School to start the academic year with a festival of one-act plays selected and directed by seniors. This year’s One Acts will be on Saturday, August 29, at 7 p.m. in the Raymond Moore Auditorium at the school’s east campus.
Donations are requested to benefit the school’s chapter of the International Thespian Society – Troupe 5177, an honorary society for students dedicated to theatre arts. The society supports students’ trips to the Illinois Theatrefest in January, trips to see professional theatre, and scholarships for seniors.
Grace Hart and Kate Bellino will direct How to Succeed in High School Without Really Trying by Jonathan Rand and produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. The cast includes Bradley Berklich, Lexi Bianchini, Charlie Capps, Adam Clayton, Caroline Crawford, Elena Demet, Zach Demet, Clara Finley, Chris Gasche, Erika Herrmann, Landon Kerouac, Sam King, Matthew LeMay, Nick Mangione, Kelly Page, Zoe Panos, Zach Poulet, Tim Sperling, Ellie Thomas, Margo van Loon, and Andrew Walther.
This Is a Test by Stephen Gregg will be directed by Dana Pepowski and Carmen Vangalis. It is produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing. Cast members are: Mariel Aquino, Sandra Brzakala, Adam Clayton, Tiffany Duong, Lorelei Duelli, Jay Graham, Chase Green, Peter Hill, Addie Jasica, Maddy Javier, Michelle Kras, Madyllen Kung, Nancie Kung, Jaclyn Lonergan, Ryan McKiernan, Eryn Reda, Nikole Tzioufas, Hayley Ward.
The third One Act will be Ian McWethy’s Thirteen Ways to Screw-Up Your College Interview, produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. Emily Mangione and Nicole Karkazis will direct Drew Arnson, Eleanor Asma, Katie Barth, Lexi Bianchini, Zachary Boveri, Elizabeth Clayton, Addie Jasica, Claire Jessen, Will Johnson, Aiden Kinsella, Madyllen Kung, Nancie Kung, Eilise Lynch, Jane Margolis, Gracie Stockton, Peter Sullivan.
Dennis Mae is director of theater. Production will be handled by a crew of 10 students, among them Tessa Kerouac (stage manager); Kyle Condon (lighting design and master electrician); Chase Green (electrician); Nick Ortiz (electrician); Kara Zehr (electrician); Kate Bellino (light board operator); and Elise Gerskovich (sound design and sound board operator). Kara Zehr is handling projection design, and running crew will be Chase Green, Erika Herrmann, Nick Ortiz, Max Simeck and Andrew Walther.
