The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem proudly began its celebration of the 2015 American Craft Exposition On Thursday, January 29. This year’s ACE Co-Chairs, Debbie Kerr and Liz Dauten, joined over 40 ACE committee members at the Chicago Botanic Garden to tour the Show’s gorgeous new location and discuss plans for their 31st season.
Special guest speakers included Harriet Resnick, Vice President-Visitor Experience and Business Development at Chicago Botanic Garden, and ACE jewelry artist Christy Klug.
“The Chicago Botanic Garden is honored to be hosting this nationally recognized and celebrated event on its grounds,” noted Resnick. “With over one million visitors walking through our doors last year, and as one of the Chicago region’s most frequented attractions, we are confident the Garden will set the perfect stage for ACE’s loyal fan base and new patrons alike.”
Funds raised at this year’s ACE will continue to support pioneering ovarian cancer research at NorthShore – a cause the group has now been supporting for 12 years. ACE Co-Chairs, Debbie Kerr and Liz Dauten shared how these funds continue to be critical in helping to drive this research forward, which is already showing promising results in preventing ovarian cancer in at-risk women.
Artist Christy Klug, who has been an exhibitor at ACE during three different years, shared her presentation From Art to Intimacy, which touched on how she creates small quantities of handmade, finely-crafted pieces that are intimate, honest and feminine. Empowered by the philosophy that we all need and long for something that is beautiful, Christy strives to complement the technical discipline required to create each piece with a strong aesthetic that embodies a contemporary grace.
“It was a true privilege to have Harriet Resnick and Christy Klug to help kick-off our 2015 Show,” said Co-Chair Debbie Kerr. “With a new date and location, we are confident our artists and patrons will enjoy an extraordinary 31st season of ACE.”
