The KidsUganda Youth Board is sponsoring a walk, titled “Share The Distance,” from 9 a.m. to noon on April 25. It is open to the community at the beautiful Elawa Farm in Lake Forest and will raise money for the Maranatha schools in Mityana, Uganda, which are suffering from a severe drought.
The walk travels through beautiful Middlefork Savanna with accompanying live music and refreshments. There will be face painting, games and other fun activities. You and your friends or children can learn more about the Maranatha schools in Mityana, Uganda either by reading the signs along posted along the trail, chosen to mimic the distance most students have to walk to get to school. The signs will read facts about the education system and the life of children in Uganda.
Carry a jerry can of water to simulate the challenge of the students fetching water for their families each day or talk to one of the volunteers about the KidsUganda Youth Board and our mission.
The money raised will go towards helping the schools remain open despite the lack of water. It will be $10 for advanced registration and $15 the day of. For registration forms, go to www.kidsuganda.com or www.croya.com.
